Poetry fit for a King

Rhymings 'bout timing but

It’s also 'bout styling

If you want to be chic and “au fait”,

That way your lines will get noticed,

And may even get posted,

To a literary agent in Hay’.

So brush up your rhythm

And scribe with precision

‘Cos given a tailwind,

And plenty of vision,

You too could be laureate

Or certainly pouring it

Onto the page in a way.

Sufficiently concise,

With lines less than fifty,

Each of your poems

Lithe and quite nifty.

So people can read

Just what they need,

To open their souls,

Or just their earholes,

To enjoy all your rhyming

Your commas, your timing

The way your words sing.

‘Cos each play a part

In building your art

Into poetry fit for a king.
